Business Polish – run meetings, write emails and negotiate in Polish
The business Polish course is for specialists and managers from abroad who work in Polish companies, service centres or with Polish partners. You practise what you do at work: running meetings, writing emails, presentations, phone calls and negotiations. The course is for levels B1–C1, we run it online individually or in a group of up to 5 people, and we base the programme on your real professional tasks. At the trial lesson we will already show you how to sound polite and confident in Polish.
Who will benefit from business Polish
The course is for people who cope with Polish in everyday life but switch to English at work because they are afraid of sounding too simple or impolite. It is useful, among others, for IT and shared service centre employees, team leaders, sales representatives and people who take over contact with Polish clients. If you are looking for a course for a whole team, see our offer for companies.
What you will learn
The most important thing in business Polish is courtesy: the same information can be passed on too directly or in a way that builds a relationship. That is why, alongside vocabulary, we practise polite forms and the conditional mood.
| Situation | Instead of | Better |
|---|---|---|
| A request to a client | „Proszę wysłać dokumenty.” | Czy mógłby pan przesłać dokumenty do piątku? |
| Postponing a deadline | „Nie zdążę.” | Niestety nie zdążymy do środy. Czy poniedziałek byłby dla państwa w porządku? |
| Refusal | „Nie, to niemożliwe.” | Rozumiem państwa oczekiwania, ale w tej chwili nie możemy tego zaproponować. |
| Opening a meeting | „Zaczynamy.” | Dziękuję, że znaleźli państwo czas. Proponuję, żebyśmy zaczęli od harmonogramu. |
| Email – a reference to earlier contact | „Piszę o tym projekcie.” | W nawiązaniu do naszej wczorajszej rozmowy przesyłam… |
| Negotiations | „To za drogo.” | Ta propozycja przekracza nasz budżet. Czy jest możliwość negocjacji warunków? |
We also practise what is not in textbooks: when in a Polish company people switch to ty, how to address a supervisor (Panie Dyrektorze or Pani Anno), how to make brief small talk before a meeting and how to end an email to a client with whom you are already on ty terms.
What the classes look like
A lesson lasts 50 minutes on Google Meet. We work on your materials: a presentation you have next week, an email you cannot begin, or a recording of a conversation you want to improve (without confidential data). The teacher plays a client, a boss or a negotiating partner, and then discusses what sounded natural and what sounded stiff. Explanations are in Polish, English, Russian or Spanish.
Example from a lesson – an email after a meeting:
Dzień dobry, Pani Magdo,
dziękuję za dzisiejsze spotkanie. Zgodnie z ustaleniami przesyłam harmonogram wdrożenia. Prosiłbym o informację zwrotną do czwartku – wtedy zdążymy przygotować wersję ostateczną przed spotkaniem z zarządem.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie,
Rahul
The teacher draws attention to Prosiłbym instead of “proszę” – the conditional mood softens the request – and to the phrase Pani Magdo in the vocative, typical in companies where people use first names but with the “Pani” form.
Six blocks of the programme
- A trial lesson with a diagnosis – your general level and an analysis of the situations in which you use Polish at work.
- Written communication – emails, messages on messengers, short notes from meetings.
- Meetings and phone calls – opening, taking the floor, summing up, agreeing the next steps.
- Presentations – structure, transition phrases, answering questions.
- Negotiations and difficult conversations – refusal, a complaint, compromise.
- The vocabulary of your industry – for example IT, finance, logistics.
What the business course includes
- A programme based on your tasks at work, not on a general textbook.
- Correction of emails and presentations between lessons.
- Questions to the teacher via WhatsApp – e.g. before an important meeting.
- A monthly progress report – for you and, if an employer pays for the course, also for the HR department.
Get ready for your next meeting
Book a trial lesson and describe the situations in which you use Polish at work – we will start with them. If you work in IT, the Polish course for IT and the office will also be useful, and before changing jobs – our guide to a job interview in Polish.
Frequently asked questions
Can an employer pay for a business Polish course?
Yes. We issue a VAT invoice to the company, and the employer can receive a monthly progress report.
Does business Polish make sense at B1 level?
Yes, if you already use Polish at work. At B1 we focus on emails and simple meetings, and negotiations and presentations come in at higher levels.
Do we also practise phone calls and video conferences in the course?
Yes. Lessons take place online, so a conversation on Google Meet is a natural environment for practice – including problems like “sorry, the connection dropped”.
Vocabulary and conversations from your industry. Book a trial lesson and we will tailor the programme.
