B1 Sprint – revision in the last weeks before the exam

In short

The B1 Sprint is a short programme for people who are already close to B1 level and have an exam in a few weeks. It includes 8 individual lessons and a mock exam with marking of writing and speaking. Instead of going through all the material from the beginning, the teacher looks for the exam part in which the risk of failing is greatest, and devotes most of the lessons to exactly that part. At the trial lesson the teacher will assess whether you can make it before the session.

When the Sprint is enough

The Sprint is for people who cope easily with everyday conversation, know the basic cases and tenses, and have roughly 4–8 weeks left until the session. Typical situations are: you have already finished a B1 course but want to bring up a weaker part; you are studying on your own and need a check before the exam; your previous attempt failed because of one part. If you are only reaching A2, eight lessons will not be enough – then the full B1 course will be better.

Why the Sprint focuses on one part

In the B1 exam each part is passed separately – at least 50% of the points in each written module and in the oral part. Very good reading will not make up for weak writing. In the last weeks the most useful thing is therefore to raise your weakest part above the threshold with a safe margin, rather than polishing the one that is already strong.

The most common weak points just before the exam and what we do about them
Weak pointSymptomWhat we do in the Sprint
Writingtext too short, a missed point of the task, mixing „Pan” and „ty”a template for formal and informal letters, timed writing, corrections with comments
Speakinglong pauses, one-sentence answers1–2 minute statements, phrases to buy time: To dobre pytanie…, Trudno powiedzieć, ale…
Grammarmistakes in endings after numerals and negationdwa domy, pięć domów; nie mam samochodu
Listeninggetting lost at a fast pacerecordings with numbers, times and place names, a strategy of reading the questions before the recording

What the classes look like

All lessons are individual, last 50 minutes and take place on Google Meet. Each lesson ends with a short timed task – an essay, a spoken statement or a test – because in the last weeks speed matters, not only knowledge. You get explanations in Polish, English, Russian or Spanish.

The plan of the eight lessons

A sample plan of 8 lessons (we adjust it after the diagnosis)
LessonGoal
1Diagnosis of all parts and a plan for the rest of the Sprint
2–3The weakest part – technique and typical pitfalls
4Writing: two short timed texts and their correction
5Speaking: a monologue and a conversation in a situation
6Grammar in exam tasks
–Mock exam with marking of writing and speaking
7–8Fixing what the mock exam showed, and a plan for the last days

Example from a lesson – expanding an oral answer:

Question: Jak spędzasz wolny czas? Answer before the Sprint: „Lubię sport.” After practice: W wolnym czasie najczęściej jeżdżę na rowerze, bo mieszkam blisko parku. Kiedyś chodziłem na siłownię, ale teraz wolę ruch na świeżym powietrzu. W weekend pojadę na wycieczkę za miasto. Three sentences, three tenses, a reason – and it is still simple Polish.

What the Sprint includes

  • 8 individual lessons arranged around your weakest part.
  • A mock exam with marking of writing and speaking against the commission’s criteria, and a report with recommendations.
  • Corrected essays and a list of phrases to revise in the last week.
  • Contact with the teacher via WhatsApp until the day of the exam.

Will you make it before the session?

Check in the session calendar how much time is left until your exam, and book a trial lesson. After the diagnosis the teacher will tell you whether the Sprint is enough, or whether it is better to choose a later session and the full course.

Frequently asked questions

Can the B1 Sprint be done in two weeks?

Technically yes, with several lessons a week, but then little time remains for corrections after the mock exam. It is safer to spread the Sprint over 4–6 weeks.

Is the Sprint also available in a group?

No. We run the Sprint only individually, because every learner has a different weak part of the exam.

What if the diagnosis shows it is too early for the exam?

The teacher will say so directly and suggest a later session and a B1 course. It is better to postpone the exam than to pay for an attempt with no chance.
