Polish at work – a course for your industry: instructions, health and safety, conversations

In short

Polish at work is a set of online courses where you learn the language you need on the job: your supervisor's instructions, health and safety rules, the names of tools and documents, and conversations with colleagues. We run six industry courses – warehouse and logistics, production and welding, construction, transport, IT and office work, and hospitality and hotels. Each industry has a free glossary, and general workplace phrases and care and medical vocabulary have their own pages. Tell us about your job at a trial lesson – the teacher will choose the course and the first topics.

Is an industry course right for you?

The industry courses are for foreigners who already work in Poland or will start work in the next few months and want to understand what is said to them at their workstation. You do not need to know any grammar – first you learn the sentences you hear every day, and we add grammar when it becomes useful.

  • Manual workers and machine operators – warehouse, production line, welding shop, building site.
  • Professional drivers and couriers – talking to the dispatcher, loading, roadside inspection.
  • Office and IT staff – meetings, emails, HR matters in Polish.
  • Kitchen, restaurant floor and hotel – orders, allergens, guest service.
  • Foreign foremen and shift leaders – giving instructions and talking to a Polish manager.

Do you employ foreigners? See our course for a whole team and check how we tailor the programme to the industry.

What you learn on an industry course

On an industry course you learn to react in specific workplace situations, not just to know single words. Each situation is a few ready-made sentences and one point of grammar behind them.

What the lessons are like and how much time they take

Lessons take place online in Google Meet and last 50 minutes, so you can study from home, from your workers' accommodation or in a break between shifts. You study one-to-one or in a group of up to 5 people. Between classes you can send your teacher a question on WhatsApp – for example a photo of a sheet of instructions you do not understand. Every month you receive a progress report: what you can already do and what we are working on next.

The courses cover levels A1–B1. If you do not know where to start, take the placement test or book a trial lesson with a level assessment. At the trial lesson you will agree the programme and the start date with the teacher.

Frequently asked questions

Does an industry course also prepare me for the B1 exam?

Not directly. An industry course teaches the language of work, while the B1 exam tests general language. Workplace vocabulary helps in the oral part, but for the exam we recommend the B1 exam preparation course.

My industry is not on the list. Can I still learn Polish for my job?

Yes. In one-to-one lessons we build the programme around your job – for example cleaning, retail or farming – based on the situations you describe in the trial lesson.

Are the industry glossaries free?

Yes. The glossaries and phrases on these pages are free and you can use them without enrolling. The course adds pronunciation practice, listening comprehension and conversations with a teacher.

I work shifts. How can I fit lessons around my schedule?

In one-to-one lessons you agree the time with your teacher and can change it together with your schedule. We set the time of group classes after the trial lesson, so that it suits people on similar shifts.
