Polish course for drivers – dispatcher, loading, roadside inspection
The Polish course for professional drivers teaches you to talk to the dispatcher on the phone, sort out loading and unloading, understand transport documents, answer during a roadside inspection and report a breakdown or a collision. Six modules cover levels A1–B1. Lessons take place online, so you can study at home or during a longer stop – never while driving. We will fit the lesson times around your routes.
For truck, van and bus drivers
The course is for foreigners who drive professionally in Poland or for Polish transport companies and want to speak Polish with the dispatcher, warehouse staff and the services on the road. It is part of our Polish at work courses.
- lorry drivers in domestic and international transport,
- van drivers and couriers,
- bus drivers who talk to passengers,
- people who are just starting work in a Polish transport company.
Workplace situations we practise
Most of a driver's conversations take place on the phone, which is the hardest form of conversation in a foreign language – you cannot see the person you are talking to and cannot point with your hand. That is why we practise a lot of listening comprehension.
| Situation | Example in Polish |
|---|---|
| Talking to the dispatcher | Będę spóźniony około godziny, na autostradzie jest korek po wypadku. |
| Arriving to load | Dzień dobry, przyjechałem po towar. Mam awizację na dziesiątą. |
| Documents | Poproszę o podpis i pieczątkę na CMR-ze. |
| Damaged goods | Jedna paleta jest przechylona, wpiszę uwagę do dokumentu. |
| Roadside inspection | Proszę prawo jazdy, dowód rejestracyjny i kartę kierowcy. |
| Breakdown | Złapałem gumę na ekspresówce, stoję na pasie awaryjnym. |
| Route | Na rondzie zjedź trzecim zjazdem, potem prosto do bramy numer dwa. |
The course programme in modules
The programme takes you through a driver's working day: from the route and the phone call to the dispatcher, through the loading ramp, to inspections and unforeseen situations.
- Route and directions. Verbs of motion (jechać, zjechać, skręcić, wyprzedzić), prepositions of place, names of roads and signs, understanding directions. You will find the rules in our guide to verbs of motion.
- Phoning the dispatcher. Hours and arrival time, delays, the future tense (będę za pół godziny), breaks and overnight stops, asking for an address to be repeated.
- Loading and unloading. Delivery slot booking, ramp, pallets, load securing, seal, remarks in documents, talking to the warehouse worker.
- Documents and roadside inspection. CMR, consignment note, WZ, vehicle and driver documents; understanding instructions during an inspection and polite answers.
- Breakdowns, collisions and safety. Describing a fault, giving your location (road kilometre, direction of travel), talking to roadside assistance, reporting a collision.
- Customer and passenger. Delivering a parcel, no recipient present, talking to a passenger, a complaint.
We have collected the vocabulary for the modules in the glossary for drivers.
Slip-ups that change the plan for the day
Drivers most often confuse verbs of motion and the forms of hours – and a mistake in the time or the direction changes the plan for the day at once.
| What learners say | Correct | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Idę do klienta. (by lorry) | Jadę do klienta. | “iść” – on foot, “jechać” – by vehicle |
| Rozładunek jest o ósma. | Rozładunek jest o ósmej. | after “o” the hour is in the locative: o ósmej, o dziesiątej trzydzieści |
| Proszę pan, gdzie rampa? | Przepraszam pana, gdzie jest rampa? | after “przepraszam” – “pana”, “panią”; do not leave out the verb “jest” |
| Ja będę spóźnić. | Spóźnię się. / Będę spóźniony. | “spóźnić się” is reflexive; the simple future or “będę” with an adjective |
| Mam dwadzieścia dwa palety. | Mam dwadzieścia dwie palety. | “paleta” is a feminine noun – also in compound numbers |
Starting level
You can start the course at level A1 and work up to B1 – we choose the starting module in the trial lesson.
- You are starting from zero – first numbers, hours, directions and basic phrases for the phone. You can also build the foundation in the from-scratch course.
- You understand simple conversations – we start with the call to the dispatcher and the ramp.
- You speak freely – we practise roadside inspections, collisions, complaints and difficult conversations with a customer.
Lessons between routes
The course begins with a level check and a trial lesson in which we will agree times that fit your routes.
- Take the placement test or book a trial lesson with a level assessment straight away.
- Tell the teacher whether you drive in Poland, abroad or as a courier – the order of the modules depends on it.
- Choose one-to-one lessons (you can fit the time around your breaks and returns to the depot) or a group of up to 5 people.

Frequently asked questions
Does the course prepare me for talking to the police during a roadside inspection?
We practise understanding typical instructions and questions during an inspection and giving polite, short answers. This is a language course – we do not give legal advice or discuss regulations.
Can I have a lesson in the cab of my lorry?
Yes, if you are parked and have a stable internet connection – lessons take place in Google Meet. Never join a lesson while driving.
Is the course also for couriers and bus drivers?
Yes. The modules on the route, the phone and breakdowns are shared, and in module 6 couriers practise deliveries and complaints, while bus drivers practise conversations with passengers.
