Polish course for warehouse and logistics – instructions, scanner, health and safety
The Polish course for warehouse workers teaches the language you need on shift: understanding your manager's instructions, reading locations and scanner messages, reporting shortages and damage, and the health and safety rules for forklifts. The programme has six modules and covers levels A1–B1. Lessons take place online, one-to-one or in a group of up to 5 people. We will check at the trial lesson which module to start with.
Who takes the warehouse course
The course is for people who work or will start working in a warehouse, a distribution centre or a sorting hub and want to communicate easily with Polish management and colleagues. It is one of our Polish at work courses.
- warehouse workers and order pickers,
- forklift and high-reach truck operators,
- packing, sorting, goods-in and dispatch staff,
- shift leaders and foremen who pass the Polish manager's instructions on to the team and report problems to him or her.
Workplace situations we practise
In lessons we practise seven situations that come up on every warehouse shift. For each one you learn the sentences you will hear and the sentences you will answer with.
| Situation | What you will hear | What you will answer |
|---|---|---|
| Briefing before the shift | Dziś najpierw rozładunek, potem kompletacja na sektor B. | Dobrze. Ile jest aut do rozładunku? |
| Manager's instruction | Zdejmij folię i sprawdź, czy wszystko się zgadza. | Już robię. / Zrozumiałem. |
| Scanner and system | Zeskanuj lokalizację, potem towar. | Skaner nie czyta kodu. Wpisać ręcznie? |
| Missing goods | Czemu zamówienie stoi? | Na lokalizacji brakuje dwóch kartonów. |
| Damage | Co z tą paletą? | Folia jest rozerwana, a jeden karton jest zgnieciony. |
| Health and safety around forklifts | Uwaga, wózek! Zejdź z alejki. | Przepraszam, nie zauważyłem. |
| Schedule | W sobotę potrzebujemy ludzi na nadgodziny. | Mogę przyjść, ale tylko do czternastej. |
The course programme in modules
The programme is divided into six modules – each combines warehouse vocabulary with one language skill that you need straight away on shift.
- Your first day in the warehouse. Introducing yourself, names of positions and zones (rampa, regał, bufor, strefa wysyłek), numbers and reading locations, e.g. alejka C, regał dwanaście, poziom trzy.
- Instructions and reactions. The imperative (weź, odłóż, przynieś, sprawdź), confirming and asking for something to be repeated: Może pan powtórzyć wolniej? You can read more about this form in our guide to the imperative.
- Goods and quantities. Numerals with nouns (jedna paleta, dwie palety, pięć palet), pieces, cartons, layers, shortages in the genitive: brakuje jednej sztuki.
- Health and safety. Warnings, prohibitions and orders, protective equipment, reporting an accident or a dangerous situation.
- Shift, schedule and working time. Hours and days of the week, overtime, swapping a shift, leave, sick leave, talking to the shift manager.
- Documents and the system. PZ, WZ, the consignment note, the discrepancy report, terminal messages, a short report at the end of the shift.
You will find the words from each module in the warehouse glossary – you can start with it even before your first lesson.
Mistakes we correct from the first lesson
The most common mistakes in a warehouse concern numerals, polite forms and the gender of nouns – we correct them from the first lessons, because they decide whether your manager understands your report correctly.
| What learners say | Correct | Why |
|---|---|---|
| dwa palety | dwie palety | paleta is a feminine noun |
| pięć paleta | pięć palet | after the number 5 and higher – the genitive plural |
| Ty możesz mi pomóc? (to a manager) | Czy może mi pan pomóc? | to a superior we say “pan” or “pani”, unless he or she offers “ty” |
| Nie ma karton. | Nie ma kartonu. | after “nie ma” – the genitive |
| Ja zrobił. | Zrobiłem. / Zrobiłam. | the verb ending shows the person and gender, so the pronoun “ja” is unnecessary |
Starting level
You can start the course at level A1 and finish at B1 – the trial lesson shows which module we start with.
- You are starting from zero – the first lessons combine the basics (numbers, hours, introducing yourself) with the vocabulary from module 1. If you would rather build a foundation first, choose the from-scratch course.
- You understand simple instructions – we start with modules 3–4 and practise speaking: reporting shortages and problems.
- You speak freely about everyday matters – we focus on documents, talking to the manager and the role of a shift leader.
Three steps to your first lesson
Three simple steps stand between you and your first lesson.
- Take the placement test or book a trial lesson with a level assessment straight away.
- In the trial lesson, tell us what position you work in and which workplace situations give you the most trouble – we will start with those.
- Choose one-to-one lessons or a group. We will fit the times around your shifts.

Frequently asked questions
Do we practise scanner and warehouse system messages in the course?
Yes. We practise typical terminal messages, e.g. Zła lokalizacja or Ilość niezgodna. If your warehouse uses different wording, write down a few messages and show them to your teacher – we will add them to the lessons.
I work as a forklift operator. Does the course cover forklift vocabulary?
Yes – the health and safety module and the glossary include the names of forklift parts and loading instructions. A language course does not, however, replace forklift operator training.
How long does the Polish course for a warehouse worker take?
We set the number of lessons after the trial lesson. It depends on your starting level and on how many lessons a week your schedule allows.
