Polish level test – check your level in about a quarter of an hour
The Pol-Langua level test is 24 questions on grammar, vocabulary and comprehension of short texts – six each at levels A1, A2, B1 and B2. You take it free of charge and without signing up, and after clicking "Check result" you immediately see your approximate level. The test does not check writing or speaking, so the exact level is determined by a teacher in a trial lesson.
How the test works
The test checks how you cope with Polish grammar, vocabulary and comprehension of short sentences at four levels – from A1 to B2. The questions are arranged from easiest to hardest; in each you choose one answer.
- Do not guess – if you do not know the answer, leave the question unmarked. The result will then be closer to the truth.
- Do not use a dictionary or a translator – the test is meant to show what you can do now.
- You pass a level when you answer correctly at least 5 of the 6 questions at that level and at all the lower ones.
The result is approximate. The test does not check writing or speaking – and in the state exam these parts are passed separately, just like grammar or listening. The exact level is determined by a teacher in a trial lesson, on the basis of a conversation and short tasks.

What next after the test
After the test it is best to book a trial lesson – the teacher will check speaking and writing and propose a study plan. Depending on your result, it is also worth looking here:
- A0–A1 – the course Polish from scratch: a clear path from the first words to independence.
- A2–B1 – B1 exam preparation, if you need a certificate for citizenship or EU long-term resident status.
- B1–B2 – the B1 mock exam with an assessment of writing and speaking according to the commission's criteria.
- Any level – individual lessons with a plan for your goal.
What exactly you can do at each level and when the regulations require B1 or B2 is explained in our description of levels A1–C2.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to complete the level test?
The test has no time limit. Answering the 24 questions usually takes about a dozen minutes.
Are my answers in the test sent anywhere?
No. The result is calculated in your browser. If you then send the enquiry form on this page, we attach only the level you obtained.
Can I take the test more than once?
Yes, as many times as you like – for example after a few weeks of study, to see your progress.
Is the test result enough at an office or a university?
No. The test result is only indicative information for you. In official matters what counts is a document, for example a certificate from the state exam – you can check which document you need in your case in our overview of language requirements.
Why does the test end at level B2?
At levels C1 and C2 the result is decided mainly by writing and speaking, which a multiple-choice test cannot check. Higher levels are assessed by a teacher in a trial lesson.
