Polish B1 mock exam online, marked by a teacher

In short

The B1 mock exam at Pol-Langua is a full practice run of the state exam online: listening, reading, grammar, writing and the oral part, each one timed. The teacher marks your essay and your oral performance against the criteria of the State Commission, and after the exam you get a report with the result for each part and a list of recommendations. Free tests on the internet usually check only listening, reading and grammar – writing and speaking cannot be marked automatically. Thanks to the report, you know before the session which part to improve.

Who will benefit from a mock exam

The mock exam is for people who are preparing for the B1 exam and want to know how far they are from passing in each part separately. It is especially useful when you study on your own and nobody has checked your essays, when you have a failed attempt behind you, or when you hesitate whether to register for the nearest session. It is also a regular element of our B1 course – in the course you take it twice.

What the mock exam looks like

The mock exam reproduces the layout of the state exam: first the written part with its successive modules, then the oral part with a teacher on Google Meet. According to the regulation in force for the 2026 sessions, the written part at B1 level for adults lasts no longer than 190 minutes, and the oral part no longer than 15 minutes.

The condition for passing the state B1 exam is at least 50% of the points in each module of the written part and in the oral part. That is why in the report we do not count one total score – we show the result of each part and the margin of points above the threshold. You can read more about scoring in our description of the B1 exam structure.

What we assess in writing and speaking

In writing and speaking the teacher first checks whether the task was carried out, and only then at correctness. The most common reason for lost points is not grammar, but a missed element of the task – for example, no request in an email that was supposed to contain one.

  • Carrying out the task – whether the text answers all points of the task and has the right form (letter, notice, opinion).
  • Vocabulary – whether it is sufficient and suited to an official or unofficial situation.
  • Grammar – whether the mistakes get in the way of understanding.
  • Spelling and punctuation – in writing; in speaking, pronunciation and fluency instead.

An excerpt from a mock exam report (anonymised):

Writing: “The task had three points – the problem is described and the date is given, but the request for a refund is missing. Add a sentence: Proszę o zwrot kosztów na numer konta podany poniżej. Polite forms correct. A recurring mistake: w poniedziałku instead of w poniedziałek (accusative after w with days of the week).”

Speaking: „An opinion with reasons – good. In the dialogue there was no reaction to the other person’s question; practise the phrases Rozumiem, ale…, Czy dobrze rozumiem, że…?”

Four stages: from booking a date to the report

  1. We agree on a date for the written and oral parts – preferably on the same day or on consecutive days, as in a real session.
  2. You do the written part in the set time, without dictionaries and a translator – just like in the exam.
  3. You take the oral part on Google Meet – you draw a set of tasks and talk with the teacher.
  4. You get the report with the result of each part, examples of mistakes and a list of recommendations for the following weeks.

When to take a mock exam

It is best to take the first mock exam 6–8 weeks before the session and the second 2–3 weeks before it. The first shows what to work on, the second – whether the work paid off. A mock exam right before the session gives you less: the result arrives when there is no time left to improve the weaker part. Check the session dates in the B1 exam calendar.

Remember: in the state exam you write by hand on a sheet. If you normally write only on a keyboard, practise handwriting before the mock exam – legibility matters too.

Tell us which session you are preparing for, and we will propose a date for the mock exam. If you only want to check your speaking, choose the shorter oral exam simulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the mock exam give a certificate?

No. The mock exam is a check of your preparation. You receive the state certificate after passing the exam at an exam centre.

How long do I wait for the mock exam report?

The teacher prepares the marking of writing and speaking and the report with recommendations after checking all parts – we give the date at enrolment.

Can I take the mock exam several times?

Yes. Another mock exam after a few weeks of study will show whether the weaker part has improved and whether you have a margin of points before the session.

Is it worth taking a mock exam after a failed attempt?

Yes – it will show which part failed and why. On the centre’s result you see percentages, and in our report – specific mistakes and what to do about them.
