Individual Polish lessons online – you, a teacher and a plan for your goal
In individual lessons you learn Polish one-on-one with a teacher on Google Meet – 50 minutes, at times you agree on together. We build the programme around your goal: an exam, work, dealing with offices or fluent conversation, at every level from A1 to C2. You get explanations in Polish, English, Russian or Spanish, and between lessons you can write to the teacher via WhatsApp. A trial lesson will show whether this way of learning suits you.
When individual lessons work best
Private lessons are chosen by people who have an irregular schedule, an unusual goal or a deadline that is close – an exam, a job interview, a visit to an office. They also help when you find it hard to speak up in a group and prefer to build confidence first with one person. If your goal is typical and your schedule is fixed, compare them with group courses.
A plan for your goal – examples
In individual lessons there is no common programme for everyone – the teacher builds a plan after the trial lesson, based on your level and goal. Below are examples of how differently the same month of study can look.
| Goal | What we focus on | Example from a lesson |
|---|---|---|
| B1 or B2 exam | the part that comes out weakest; timed tasks | a formal email with a complaint written in 25 minutes |
| Work | industry vocabulary, conversations with a supervisor and a client | Czy mogę zamienić się zmianą z kolegą? |
| Offices and formalities | forms, letters, talking at the counter | Chciałbym złożyć wniosek. Jakie dokumenty muszę dołączyć? |
| Everyday conversation | listening, pronunciation, reactions in conversation | Serio? Nie wiedziałem! – colloquial reactions instead of textbook ones |
| Coming back after a break | revising grammar you “almost remember” | aspect: czytałem książkę (a process) vs przeczytałem książkę (I finished it) |
What a lesson looks like
A lesson lasts 50 minutes and has a steady rhythm, so you do not waste time on random exercises. At the start a short conversation – the teacher notes your mistakes but does not interrupt. Then new material through examples from your own life, exercises and a return to the mistakes from the conversation. At the end you agree on the task for next time.
Example from a lesson – a mistake noted in conversation:
The student: „Wczoraj byłem w sklepie i kupowałem chleb”. The teacher asks: is it one completed action? Yes – so kupiłem chleb. The form kupowałem fits an action that is repeated or interrupted: Kupowałem chleb, kiedy zadzwonił telefon.
From the trial lesson to the first report
- A trial lesson with a diagnosis – a conversation, short tasks, an assessment of your level and goal.
- A study plan – what we go through in the coming weeks and how we will check progress.
- Regular lessons at agreed times, with tasks in between.
- A monthly progress report – what you can already do, what we have improved, what is next.
- Adjusting the plan – when your goal changes or progress is faster than we assumed.
What you gain from individual lessons
- A teacher who works only on your mistakes and your goal.
- Explanations in Polish, English, Russian or Spanish.
- Questions to the teacher via WhatsApp between classes – e.g. “how do I write this sentence in an email to my boss?”.
- Materials and tasks shared online for the whole period of study.
- A monthly progress report.
How to prepare for your first lesson
For the first lesson all you need is a computer or tablet with a camera, headphones and 50 quiet minutes. It is also worth preparing two things that will help the teacher build a plan faster:
- A list of situations in which you need Polish today – for example talking to a shift manager, a visit to the doctor, a phone call to the housing cooperative.
- A deadline, if you have one – the date of an exam, of starting work or of an office visit.
If you have a letter, an email or a task you cannot cope with, bring it – without personal data. It is the best material to start with.
Your first step
Take the placement test or book a trial lesson straight away. If you are starting from zero, also see the from-scratch course, and if you mainly want to speak – the conversation club.
Frequently asked questions
Can I learn together with another person?
Yes – we also run lessons for two, with one teacher and two people at a similar level, for example with a partner or a colleague from work.
How often is it worth having private lessons?
For a goal with no deadline, 1–2 lessons a week are usually enough. Before an exam or a move, more works well – in that case see the intensive course.
Can I change the teacher?
If the working style does not suit you, tell us – we will talk about changing the approach or match you with another teacher.
In individual lessons, will you prepare me for a specific presentation or conversation?
Yes. You can bring your own text, presentation or list of questions – the teacher will practise exactly that situation with you.
