Polish B2 course online – for university and specialist work
The B2 course at Pol-Langua prepares you for the state exam in Polish at B2 level – needed, among other things, for studying in Polish, where a university may not require a level lower than B2. In a group the programme includes 28 lessons and two mock exams in which the teacher marks writing and speaking. At B2 the threshold is higher than at B1: you need at least 60% of the points in each part. At a trial lesson we will check whether your B1 is solid enough to start.
Who chooses the B2 course
The course is for people with a B1 certificate or a comparable level who are planning studies in Polish, work that requires fluent written communication, or who simply want to move from “I manage” to “I talk without effort”. The course is usually chosen by university applicants, students and professionals who write emails and reports in Polish. If you do not know whether you already have B1, start with the placement test.
How B2 differs from B1
At B2 it is not enough to pass on information – you have to organise it, give reasons for it and adjust your style to the recipient. According to the regulation in force for the 2026 sessions, the written part of B2 lasts up to 250 minutes (at B1 – up to 190), the oral part up to 15 minutes, and the passing threshold for each part rises from 50% to 60%.
| Area | B1 | B2 |
|---|---|---|
| Passing threshold for each part | 50% | 60% |
| Duration of the written part | up to 190 minutes | up to 250 minutes |
| Written forms | private formal and informal letter, notice, description, story | additionally, among others, an essay, cover letter, CV, application, official letter, notification |
| Speaking | simple, coherent statements and an opinion with a short justification | fluent and spontaneous communication, reporting events, taking part in a discussion |
| Orthography | basic spelling rules | also ó/u, rz/ż, h/ch, spelling words together and apart |
What you will learn
- Writing an essay – thesis, arguments, counterargument and conclusion: Z jednej strony…, z drugiej strony…, Należy jednak pamiętać, że…, Podsumowując,…
- Writing official letters – a cover letter, an application, a complaint: Uprzejmie proszę o…, W nawiązaniu do ogłoszenia…
- Discussing – interrupting politely, taking the floor, partly agreeing: Pozwolę sobie się nie zgodzić…, Coś w tym jest, ale…
- Understanding journalistic texts and lectures – the author’s intention, irony, an opinion hidden in the vocabulary.
- Using more difficult grammar – participles (czytając, przeczytawszy, napisany), the passive voice, the conditional mood in complex sentences.
Example from a lesson – from B1 to B2 in one sentence:
B1: „Myślę, że praca zdalna jest dobra, bo nie trzeba jeździć do biura.” B2: Choć praca zdalna oszczędza czas poświęcany na dojazdy, nie każdemu odpowiada – wiele osób traci w domu kontakt z zespołem i granicę między pracą a odpoczynkiem. The teacher shows how the conjunction choć and a counterargument raise the mark without harder words.
What the classes look like
Lessons last 50 minutes and take place on Google Meet, in a group of up to 5 people or individually. Every lesson includes a discussion on a topic from public life, work with a text or a recording, and an element of grammar. You hand in written texts between classes and get them back with corrections. Explanations are in Polish, English, Russian or Spanish, but at B2 we explain more and more in Polish.
The course plan in six stages
- A trial lesson with a diagnosis – we check whether you have a solid B1 and which part of the B2 exam will be the hardest.
- Style and register – the differences between official, journalistic and colloquial language.
- Written forms at B2 – an essay, a cover letter, an application, a review.
- The first mock exam – a full exam with marking of writing and speaking.
- Work on the weaker part and on more difficult grammar.
- The second mock exam before the chosen session.
Remember: the B2 level is not offered in every exam session. Before you choose the date for your university application, check when the nearest B2 session for adults is – B2 exam dates and rules.
Included in the B2 course price
- 28 lessons in a group and two mock exams with marking of writing and speaking.
- Corrected written texts with a comment on style, not only on mistakes.
- A monthly progress report and questions to the teacher via WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions
Can I start the B2 course without a B1 certificate?
Yes. A certificate is not a condition – what counts is the level, which the teacher will check in the trial lesson.
Will I learn the vocabulary of my field of study on the B2 course?
The course prepares you for the exam and for general academic Polish. You can add field-specific vocabulary in individual lessons.
How long does it take to move from B1 to B2?
It depends on your pace and starting point – it usually takes at least as much work as moving from A2 to B1, roughly 200–350 hours of lessons and self-study (a teaching estimate, not school data). We will make a realistic plan after the diagnosis in the trial lesson.
